Solutions for the entire supply chain

“Well over 10,000 different components are fitted in a vehicle today – a major challenge for international carmakers and their suppliers. With our know-how and global network of locations, we are in a position to coordinate these complex logistics processes and deliver the products ‘just in time’ to our customers’ factories,” says Alexander Slovak, Cluster Manager Automotive at Gebrüder Weiss. Different drive concepts such as electricity, biogas and hydrogen, as well as current developments in autonomous driving, are also leading to closer ties between the automotive and high-tech industries. Gebrüder Weiss also has many years of experience in this industry, meaning that it is able to harness important synergies between the logistics requirements of both industrial sectors.

Individual procurement logistics for MAGNA

Just how efficiently logistics processes function can be seen in the example of the automotive supplier Magna Steyr. Gebrüder Weiss already transports vehicle parts on its behalf from more than 400 suppliers from all over Germany to its central production location in Graz and four other Magna plants in Styria – with fixed durations and high afalexibility with varying production volumes. “Transporting general cargo is demanding, because many suppliers are involved. Even just one error will disrupt the workflows and may result in considerable extra expense. Therefore it is essential to work accurately and consistently. Gebrüder Weiss is a competent partner who knows how to solve these complex tasks and how to improve processes on a sustainable basis,” says Alfons Dachs-Wiesinger, Director Logistics Services at Magna Steyr.
