Gebrüder Weiss has added a new logistics terminal to its location in Hall in Tyrol and modernized its transfer depot. Equipped with a state-of-the-art CCTV system, energy efficient lighting and a thermal ground water heater, the high-bay warehouse meets the highest standards in terms of security, technology and environmental protection. "Thanks to the new storage capacities, we can respond even more quickly and flexibly to short-term customer enquiries," says Hannes Mayr, Branch Manager at Gebrüder Weiss in Hall. The terminal has been in operation since the beginning of August. Approximately 4 million euros have been invested in the expansion project. Sustainable Rail Transport The new terminal in Hall consists of a storage and transfer facility covering 1,000 square metres and can accommodate 5,000 pallets. The entire location covers 130,000 square metres. The complex of buildings is located right next to the A12 motorway and therefore forms a perfect hub for the flow of goods between Tyrol, Germany and Switzerland. In addition, the branch has its own railway connection, which is situated right on the East-West route of Orange Combi Cargo. The Gebrüder Weiss block train runs daily between Vienna and Vorarlberg. A further focus of the transport specialists is on intermodal transports – the combination of rail and road – towards Italy. For the most part, Gebrüder Weiss handles the main run of cargo over the Alps by rail. Home Delivery on the Up For several years, Gebrüder Weiss Tyrol has been successful in the challenging home delivery segment. Last year, the logistics specialist grouped together its established services under the product name "GW pro.line home". "More and more consumers are expecting fast and flexible delivery from their trading partner. With GW pro.line home, we offer our customers in the area of home delivery unified quality standards throughout Austria," says Hannes Mayr. In addition to a high degree of reliable planning, consumers benefit from additional services such as unpacking, setting up and connecting appliances as well as the disposal of used appliances. Long Tradition in Tyrol Gebrüder Weiss opened its first office in Innsbruck in Tyrol as early as the 1950s. This was followed in the 1970s by the construction of the company's own freight forwarding facility. In 2002, the transport specialist made further investments in the region, expanding its location in Wörgl and acquiring the current logistics zone in Hall. The move from Innsbruck to Hall followed two years later. With the construction of Austria's first climate-neutral logistics hall in Wörgl, the company strengthened its claim to sustainable value creation in 2011. Today, a total of 240 employees work for Gebrüder Weiss in Tyrol. The range of services extends from overland transports via air and sea freight to individual logistics solutions and heavy haulage.
