From niche player to full-service logistics provider

Founded in 1994 as a shipping office with a staff of four, Gebrüder Weiss Romania has established itself as one of the leading full-service logistics provider on the domestic market over the years. Today, the company has 600 employees at eleven locations, managing a logistics area of some 50,000 square meters. “Apart from the great skill that the Romanian team has demonstrated in developing the country organization and in providing industry-specific customer solutions, the growth of the company was also supported by the fact that Romania is opening up to Central Europe,” says Thomas Moser,

Director and Regional Manager South-East/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss, to explain this positive development. Today, especially land transports to Germany, Austria, France, Bulgaria, and Hungary account for a major part of the business.

Access to global markets by air and sea freight

The Air & Sea division has also seen a positive development: Since 2014, the number of shipments in the air and sea freight division has increased by more than 25 percent each year. From 2016 to 2017, the number of transported TEUs increased by 50 percent. Against this background, Gebrüder Weiss has expanded the Air & Sea structure of the entire country organization and reinforced the teams with additional personnel. Customers benefit from the access they are offered by Gebrüder Weiss from Romania to the major destinations of the world. For instance, the company runs LCL consolidated containers between China/Hong Kong and the Black Sea port of Constanta four times a week. Additionally, from Constanta, the most important Central European ports, the North Sea as well as overseas destinations are reached via the Main-Danube Canal. With its sea freight division, Gebrüder Weiss ranks third already among logistics experts on the domestic market.
