ATLANTA - The dangerous winds and torrential rain of Harvey has left the Texas and Louisiana region, but not the need for humanitarian and support assistance.

“Every day our CBP officers head out to the community’s focused on helping those affected by Harvey.” Said Donald Yando, CBP Director Atlanta Field Office operations. “With CBP personnel and assets on scene from across our country we can support those devastated by this tragic storm.” U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers from the Office of Field Operations remain committed to helping the disaster survivors which continue to require water, food, shelter and emotional support. A total of 11 CBP officers from the Port of Atlanta and Savannah arrived a week ago in Houston, TX with equipment and resources necessary to help those impacted by Harvey. The deployment of CBP assets to this devastated region is a coordinated effort between Federal Emergency Management Administration, Department of Homeland Security, state and local agencies. As in previous emergency situations, CBP’s emergency response is conducted in accordance with the Department of Homeland Security’s National Response Framework. “Our highest priority in an emergency is the safety of people in the impacted areas,” said CBP Lead Field Coordinator Judson W. Murdock II. “We continue to coordinated with, and fully support state and local law enforcement partners, in their continued efforts to provide emergency relief and response to the affected communities.”
