The Rail connection to/from Kansas City via Norfolk Southern Rail (NS) Service to and from US Eastcoast had been interrupted since 02.00 hrs p.m. on October 2, 2019 due to a bridge collapse.

Norfolk Southern announced that effective 6 am today October 4, 2019 service is re-established with the help of their interline partners.

Until such time as service is fully restored, transit delays of at least 48 hours can be expected in the lanes covering New York & Norfolk to/from Kansas City.

Norfolk Southern has indicated that repairs to the bridge are in progress and likely to take about one month for completion. Normal unimpeded service is expected to resume afterwards.
