Konecranes is searching for one startup in Slush to enter directly to finals in the Konecranes startup program, REACH. Slush is the world's leading startup event, Dec 4–5, 2018, in Helsinki. It connects startups and technology developers with business executives, investors and media.

Material handling is rapidly becoming more and more digital. Leveraging emerging technologies require focused talent, which is many times found from startups. Konecranes is interested in all technologies and solutions that help it serve its customers better. The most visible parts of the Konecranes startup collaboration are Konecranes REACH Program for startups and partnership with Maria 01, the Nordic’s leading startup hub.

Konecranes REACH Program is a path for startups to form a partnership with Konecranes. The program starts by Konecranes calling applications for a specified business challenge. After scouting the applications, the best startups are selected to introduce their solutions to Konecranes business executives in the REACH program’s finals, where on startup is selected for a pilot and possibly to a commercial or R&D partnership. The ongoing Konecranes REACH program focuses on its ports business applications and is scouting startups working with human machine interaction, digitalization of ports or smart container logistics.

“Startup and entrepreneurial activity are now accelerating in the maritime and logistics sector, and many of the leading technology companies of future are startups today. From the ongoing REACH Program, we will shortlist TOP 4 candidates. In Slush, our aim is to find one more relevant startup and offer them a position in the TOP 5.“ says Jussi Eskelinen, Startup Coordinator from the Konecranes Innovation Management Team.

The Konecranes REACH Programs finals will be arranged on the week 50. The selected finalist will start a pilot with Konecranes in the beginning of 2019.

Konecranes joins forces in Slush with Combient Foundry and five other industrial companies, Epiroc, KONE, SAAB, Scania and Stora Enso to form a common industrial stand.
