Starting in early August, the LSCT terminal call will be added to the service operated by the shipping companies CMA CGM and COSCO, offering an additional rapid connection between the ports of the western Mediterranean and with those of the US Gulf and Mexico. The MedGulf service was launched at the end of 2022 and the port rotation includes Tanger Med, La Spezia, Genoa, Barcelona, Valencia, Miami, Veracruz, Altamira, and Houston.

The new connection strengthens the partnership between the two carriers and Contship Italia Group, as LSCT terminal offers numerous connections on major global routes operated by the Ocean Alliance

"The MedGulf service caters to all import/export flows in northern and central Italy, and we are proud to share this important news for the entire port system of La Spezia," affirms Cristiano Pieragnolo, Chief Commercial Officer of Contship Italia. "The debut call in La Spezia is expected on August 6th with the ship AS PAOLA, and thanks to this new service we will further develop the number of connections to the US and Mexican markets via LSCT. The added value of the agreement with the customer was integrating the logistics offer by leveraging all intermodal connections to target the origin of the goods."

"It is a key moment for our company," comments Matthieu Gasselin, CEO of the Contship Italia Group. "It is recognition of the commercial and operational efforts we are making, and of the extraordinary competitiveness and attraction factors of the "La Spezia Solution": Santo Stefano Magra dry port, an intermodal capacity that exceeds 35%, and the quality along the entire supply chain guaranteed by customs services, freight forwarders, and tugs. Furthermore, the new service is a further step forward in achieving the business objectives we have set for 2023”.
