US Port Highlights — last 3 months vs. 2021 average (and vs. total pandemic average):
- Average monthly dwell time at US ports: For the last 3 months, we’re seeing average dwell of 167 hours [7 days] at the point of discharge (POD), an increase of 4% on the year (21% over the average since the start of the pandemic). At the point of loading, we’re seeing average dwell time of 199 hours [8 days], a 2% dip over the annual average (and up 4.5% from the average since the start of the pandemic).
- On-time percentage of shipments at US ports: We’re seeing a nearly 25% rate of on-time shipments at POD — a 12% drop from the annual average (15% drop compared to the average since the pandemic started). And at POL, we’re seeing a 62% on-time rate, 8% down from the 2021 average (and 13% down from the average since the pandemic started).
- Percentage of delayed shipments: For the last 3 months, we’re seeing 74% of shipments delayed at POD (up 12% from the annual average, and up 15% from the average since the start of the pandemic); and 10% of shipments delayed at POL (up 13% from the annual average, and up nearly 30% from the start of the pandemic).
- And we continue to see increases in dwell and delays at the Ports of Long Beach and LA:
- Together, average dwell time at POD is 240 hours (up 6% from the 2021 average, and up 27% from the average since the start of the pandemic), while average dwell at POL is 311 hours (up 4% compared to the 2021 average, and 12% compared to the avg. since the start of the pandemic)
- On-time percentage is at 29% at POD (down 28% compared to the 2021 average, and down 9% compared to the avg. since the start of the pandemic), and 31% at POL (down 48% compared to the 2021 average, and down 47% compared to the avg. since the start of the pandemic)
- Delays at POD are almost 70% (up 39% compared to the 2021 average, and up 20% compared to the avg. since the start of the pandemic), and 14% at POL (down 32% compared to the 2021 average, and down 16% compared to the avg. since the start of the pandemic).
European Port Highlights — last 3 months vs. 2021 average. On the whole, these have been more stable than in the US.
- Average dwell time at POD is 122 hours (down 8% on the year) and 217 at POL (up 9% compared to 2021 average)
- On-time percentage at POD is 19% (down 2% compared to 2021), and on-time % at POL is at 61% (up 8% on the year)
- Delayed shipments at POD are at 81% (up 6% compared to 2021 averages), and delayed shipments at POL are at 17% (up 3% on the year)
China port highlights — last 3 months vs. 2021 average:
- On the whole, we haven’t seen much change in dwell time over the last 3 months compared to the annual average
- On-time percentages have seen big jumps, though. At POD, we’re seeing on-time percentages of 20% (a jump of 156% compared to the annual average), and 73% at POL (61% above the annual average)
- Delays at POD are at 79% (12% below the annual average), while delays at POL are at almost 5% (7% above the annual average)
