The STS cranes are the largest in Scandinavia. With a safe working load of 65 t, an outreach of 65 m, a backreach of 25 m and a span of 30.48 m. The high-tech cranes are designed with a suite of advanced features and systems for increasing safety and productivity. These include load collision prevention, ship profiling, straddle carrier positioning systems, electronically controlled safe zones and minimal acceleration times on all drives.

The high-tech rail mounted gantry cranes have been designed to a very advanced specification and have a safe working load of 50 tonnes under spreader, a span of 30.6 m and an outreach on both sides of 14.5 m. Lift height over rail is 16.5 giving a stacking height of one over four. The cranes will handle multiple rail tracks under the span with container stacking and delivery to the horizontal transport vehicles taking place under the cantilevers.

Speaking about the project, Sales and marketing manager of Liebherr Container Cranes, Gerry Bunyan said

“Liebherr Container Cranes and APM Terminals have worked together to deliver a number of different projects. We look forward to working with APM Terminals again in the future.”

Henrik Kristensen, Managing Director APM Terminals Gothenburg AB commented. “Gothenburg is Sweden’s most important freight hub and APM Terminals is delighted to evolve the container terminal to continue to be at the forefront of technological development. The investment in these Liebherr machines allows us to continue that journey and bring a faster and more reliable service to our customers.
