Lloyd's List Intelligence (LLI) has launched Satellite Confirmed Spoofing, a new capability within its proprietary maritime intelligence platform, Seasearcher. This new functionality combines AIS spoofing detection with automatic satellite imagery validation, helping compliance, risk and intelligence teams identify deceptive vessel behavior with greater confidence.

The launch reflects growing demand for defensible intelligence, helping maritime organizations prioritize investigations, strengthen compliance processes, and make decisions based on independently validated evidence.

"Deceptive shipping practices have moved well beyond going dark. Vessels seeking to evade scrutiny are broadcasting false positions that look entirely legitimate," said Arne Staal, Chief Research Officer at Lloyd's List Intelligence. "We've detected this behavior for some time, but detection models are by nature probabilistic. We can now take our users from flagging probable spoofing events, to corroborating the event with satellite imagery. For compliance teams, insurers, and regulators, this marks a shift from inference to independent evidence, so they can decisively act on what the imagery shows rather than what a vessel chose to report.”

Lloyd's List Intelligence believes better decisions start with better intelligence.

Satellite Confirmed Spoofing is designed to support that mission by helping customers move from an inferred risk signal to a validated event. By combining maritime expertise, advanced analytics and satellite technology, they are making it easier for organizations to identify deceptive shipping practices and understand the evidence behind them.
