China Customs has released Order No.56 [2017] to adjust their advanced manifest rule; the adjusted rules went into effect June 1st, 2018.

To comply with the new regulatory requirement from China Customs and to ensure timely transportation of your cargo, Maersk Line will begin submitting a pre-stowage manifest for export cargo destined to China, along with cargo transshipping in China. Shippers will be responsible for providing additional information to Maersk Line when Shipping Instructions are submitted. 

The new mandatory elements to be included on your shipping instructions are:

(1) Shipper Company Code along with the identifier:

Shipper’s tax identification number for example: EIN+XXXXXXXXXXX or TIN+XXXXXXXX , the plus (+) sign is mandatory.  

(2) Consignee Company code along with the identifier:

In the case of Chinese (CN) mainland company; USCI (Uniform Social Credit Identification) code should be provided as the Consignee’s company code. The USCI is similar to the “Tax (Payer) Identification number (TIN).    The required entry format is USCI+Code. The plus (+) sign is mandatory.   

**When bills of lading are “To Order” the tax ID number of the Notify Party will be required.**

(3) Additional Mandatory information:

  • Shipper's telephone
  • Consignee's telephone number
  • Consignee’s contact person
  • Consignee's contact person's telephone number

**When consignee is “To order”, only the notify party's telephone number is required**

These items must be provided on the Shipping Instructions; if these details are not provided, your Shipping Instructions will be rejected.

Shipment reference can be submitted via Maersk LIne's website.

Shipper’s company code and Consignee’s company code are available under additional reference drop down list, when submitting the shipping instructions on Maerskline.com as shown below.


Shipment references submitted other channels: Please include these references in Shipper memoranda, Notes to Carrier, or in the Party addresses.
