Michaels Stores Inc. has named MOL, Ltd. one of its top two transport carriers for 2006. The announcement took place at the Irving, Texas based company's 10th annual Vendor Strategy Conference.

Michaels Stores, Inc., the world's largest specialty retailer of arts, crafts, framing, floral, wall d'cor and seasonal merchandise, presented the award at their annual Vendor Strategy Conference on August 26, 2006. Michaels currently owns and operates 909 Michaels stores across the US and Canada. In addition to Michaels Stores, the company owns and operates 165 nationwide Aaron Brothers Stores, specializing in framing supplies and services. MOL transports merchandise for Michaels Stores Inc. to ports of call worldwide as well as managing the intermodal transport to inland bound points.

The carrier of the year award recognizes Michaels' key partners and the contribution they play in helping the company achieve its goals. Although selection was based on a wide range of exacting criteria, MOL's overall customer service and support as well as the availability and condition of equipment, set the company apart from its competitors. MOL's commitment to a new TraPac terminal in Jacksonville, Florida near the site of Michaels' new distribution center also played a role.

'We're extremely pleased to have been named a top carrier for Michaels Stores,' said MOL (America) Inc.'s EVP/COO, Tsuyoshi Yoshida. 'We're proud that we were able to meet the standards necessary to achieve this honor. It's wonderful to be recognized and appreciated by our customers as quality service is a key objective of MOL and its employees.'
