Container handling is all about logistics and effective processes. While the general handling of containers at ports and transport hubs has been widely automated, some time-consuming tasks have lacked behind. Documentation is often done by hand or semi-automatic even in the major ports of the world. This is costly and subject to errors. Now the solution is here.
The Danish software company ConPDS has developed a flexible and developer-friendly software for digital scanning of container codes. The ConPDS OCR-engine integrates seamlessly with your software solutions, smartphone apps, and logistic systems by integrating just a few lines of code. ConPDS OCR engine is a plug-and-play software library that will save 100s of development hours and instead get an instant and guaranteed result. This software library will help minimize errors, improve operations and Increase productivity which in turns creates higher business value.
“There seems to be a huge market for Automated Container Code Recognition. The accuracy rate from generic OCR-engines is not high enough, and therefore many companies still use handwritten or semi-automatic solutions. That challenge has now been solved, and the result is an AI-based and very robust OCR-engine software that will get the highest possible recognition accuracy,” says Morten Steen Sondergaard, CEO of ConPDS.
The ConPDS OCR engine software is based on well-defined international container code standards. It works online as well as offline and has an exceptional high recognition rate of container codes compared to generic OCR engines. ConPDS features a state-of-the-art OCR engine for Automatic Container Code Recognition – also known as ACCR. It has been developed with the sole purpose of scanning and recognizing BIC (ISO 6346 standard) and ILU (EN 13044-1 standard) container codes- and for BIC containers also the ISO Size Type codes. All it takes is a snapshot from a smartphone, digital camera or even a stationary camera.
“ConPDS is the new standard in Automated Container Code Recognition. With an unprecedented low rate of failure in recognizing codes, we expect to see our ACCR built into a wide range of applications soon as we offer a true plug-and-play solution. Within our first few months, we have been in contact with major shipping companies, ports and freight handlers from several continents. As a stand-alone solution, the ConPDS OCR Engine is already being used for a range of tasks. For example, by MCI, APM Terminals, Samskip, and Nile Dutch Africa Line and others,” says Morten Steen Sondergaard.
