NEWARK, NJ - Members of the New York Shipping Association (NYSA) voted on Tuesday to ratify a new six-year Local NY&NJ Contract with the International Longshoremen’s Association.
The unopposed approval with 94.4% of members voting comes on the heels of the ILA and USMX ratifying the Master Agreement as well as the ILA also ratifying the NY&NJ Local Agreement last week.
In addition to ensuring labor peace at the Port of NY & NJ for the next 6 years, this agreement contains several key provisions that will continue to improve productivity with defined goals at the East Coast’s largest port.
NYSA President, John Nardi stated, “Service levels and productivity in the port have come a long way in the past several years. This agreement will build on that success in order for the port to remain competitive and handle future growth in the post Panamax era.”
