Ports America Chesapeake welcomed four super-post Panamax cranes for Port of Baltimore’s Seagirt Marine Terminal this year, manufactured by ZPMC and fully equipped with Phoenix’s LED lighting. The new ship-to-shore cranes are capable of handling two 14,000 TEU vessels simultaneously. The LED lighting system on the massive cranes include Phoenix’s EcoMod 2 floodlights and Wayfinder™ walkway lights. Port of Baltimore is also awaiting delivery of eight new RTGs manufactured by Kalmar that are fully fitted with Phoenix’s LED fixtures. With 100% energy-efficient LED lighting on the cranes, Ports America Chesapeake strengthens its commitment to environmentally sustainable operations and a safer work environment.

Georgia Ports Authority has expanded its Port of Savannah to better accommodate increased volumes and demand for their services. As part of the expansion this year, Savannah purchased eight new ship-to-shore cranes and 18 RTG cranes, manufactured by Konecranes and completely fitted with Phoenix’s LED lighting. Georgia Ports Authority and Phoenix Lighting have a strong history, dating back to 1996 when its first cranes arrived with Phoenix lights. Now both ship-to-shore and RTG cranes use Phoenix LEDs including the EcoMod® 2 for floodlighting and Wayfinder™, HDL and ReadiLED™ fixtures for engine room and walkway lighting.

Other crane lighting projects awarded to Phoenix this year include Port of Houston Authority, the Gulf’s largest container port that has had a record year for the volume of containers handled. Port Houston has looked to improve its infrastructure at Bayport container terminal and purchased three new ship-to-shore cranes manufactured by ZPMC and fully equipped with Phoenix’s LED lighting. The lighting systems on these cranes include customized EcoMod® 2 floodlights and Cube-Light and HDL fixtures for walkway and engine room lighting.

As more North American ports look to improve their infrastructure and achieve greener operations, they continue to look to Phoenix Lighting to accelerate these initiatives with proven LED lighting engineered specifically for ports and terminals.
