Motorists should plan to access NB 710 Freeway from Anaheim Street

The northbound lanes of the Shoemaker Bridge will temporarily close on Saturday, July 26, resulting in traffic restrictions to nearby roadways and freeway onramps connecting downtown Long Beach to the northbound 710 Freeway.

Crews are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lane striping, which will wrap up repairs from a January 2024 incident when the Shoemaker Bridge was damaged after cargo carried by a truck struck the span’s underside. Structural repairs were completed last year.

Due to the closure of the northbound Shoemaker, motorists coming from downtown Long Beach will need to access the northbound 710 from Anaheim Street. The Ocean Boulevard, Shoreline Drive, Third Street and Seventh Street onramps will be closed.
