PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA) announces that Fock Siew Wah will step down as Group Chairman on 1 April 2019, and assume the role of Special Advisor to PSA until his retirement on 31 July 2019. Peter Voser, currently Deputy Chairman, will be taking on the role of Group Chairman of the PSA Board.

As one of PSA’s longest serving Chairmen, Mr Fock has steered PSA with visionary leadership and strategic foresight since August 2005. With his astute guidance, the PSA Group’s global footprint has grown to its current day span of over 50 coastal, inland and rail terminals in 17 countries, and volumes have doubled to more than 80 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) annually.
Fock also spearheaded PSA’s efforts in giving back to the communities. He championed the establishment of the Howe Yoon Chong-PSA bond-free scholarships in Singapore, which have supported and benefitted many students from underprivileged backgrounds over the last decade.
Fock said, “For the past 13 years, it has been my honour to serve as PSA’s Group Chairman and to have been a part of the organisation’s transformation, an on-going journey that saw its growth from a single port, to its current global footprint spanning over 17 countries. It has been a fulfilling experience and now the time has come for renewal as I retire from the Board this year.
“I am grateful to my colleagues on the Board, both past and present, and the exceptional trifecta of the Management team, Staff and Unions of PSA, for their trust and unstinting support. It has been a privilege serving alongside you. I am confident that with Peter taking over to helm the Board and Chong Meng leading the Management team, PSA will continue to grow and evolve as a major industry leader – charting new business frontiers, expanding its global influence, facilitating trade, enabling supply chains, touching lives and doing good. I would like to wish all our customers and partners, my dear colleagues and all the union members and staff of PSA good health, great joy and plenteous blessings.”
Peter Voser brings to PSA a wealth of experience and insights across various industries and countries. As a former CEO of Royal Dutch Shell, he held various leadership roles across Switzerland, the UK, the Netherlands, Argentina and Chile. He was also previously with the Boards of Aegon and UBS.
Voser is currently active in several international and bilateral organisations, holding Board positions that include, Chairmanships of ABB Ltd, the Board of Trustees of the St Gallen Foundation for International Studies, and Directorships for Roche Holdings Limited, Temasek Holdings, IBM Corporation and Catalyst Inc. He also serves with the Singapore Economic Development Board on its International Advisory Council.
On his appointment, Mr Voser said, “I am honoured to take on the Chairmanship of PSA at this exciting stage of its development. Siew Wah has been a beacon of inspiration, wisdom and leadership for the organisation as it navigated the changing environment throughout the years. I am grateful to the Board and Management team who have helped to lay a firm foundation for PSA to continue its growth as a global industry leader.
“Building on their good work, I intend to continue steering the Group towards a sustainable growth trajectory built on integrity, trust and collaboration with our internal and external stakeholders. PSA is already a brand name in the ports and shipping circles and it is my hope that PSA will achieve a strong standing in the sphere of supply chain orchestration as well.”
Tan Chong Meng, Group CEO of PSA, said, “On behalf of the Management, Unions and Staff, I would like to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to Chairman Fock for his vast contributions to PSA. His far-sightedness and deep wisdom were greatly instrumental in guiding the Group through our journey of growth, internationalisation and transformation, and in overcoming the many challenges along the way. In creating PSA’s shared vision of Global Championship for the leaders, staff and global stakeholders, he has woven the aspiration for excellence, partnership and integrity into the fabric of PSA society. We have been greatly honoured and privileged to have had the benefit of his wise counsel these many years.
“I would also like to warmly welcome Peter in his new role as Group Chairman. PSA is privileged to have Peter at the helm of our Board, and we look forward to benefitting from his able stewardship and sharp acumen as we continue to grow our core business in port management and development, while building up new and complementary capabilities in supply chain orchestration.”
