RailWorks Corp., North America’s leader in rail track construction and maintenance services, has finalized an agreement to acquire NARSTCO, the leading manufacturer of steel ties and turnout sets.

Founded in 1996, Midlothian, Texas-based NARSTCO is the supplier of choice for Class I, short-line railroads and industrial rail customers, providing cost-effective and durable steel railway ties and turnout sets. NARSTCO ties are made from recycled steel, which eliminates the need for creosote, spikes, gauging, anchors and tie plates. Steel ties from NARSTCO last longer, are easier to ship and are simpler to install, which all combined yields lower life-cycle costs for customers. NARSTCO has approximately 90 employees at its facilities in the United States.
“NARSTCO has an outstanding reputation throughout the industry for superior products, dedication to customer needs and great field service. The combination of NARSTCO and RailWorks represents two leaders joining forces to bring industry-leading value to our customers through our comprehensive network of strategically located offices,” said Kevin Riddett, CEO of RailWorks.
NARSTCO will continue to operate independently and work closely with its current customer base which includes end users, contractors and engineering firms. Anthony Musa will continue to serve as NARSTCO CEO.
“NARSTCO is very excited to be a part of the RailWorks family,” Musa said. “NARSTCO’s high-quality steel ties and turnouts, along with RailWorks superior service and vast network of connections, represents a growth opportunity for NARSTCO.”
