2022 was a year that exceeded expectations for Bornholm's commercial and supply port, with growth in several of the port's business areas. Overall, Rønne Havn A/S came out with a turnover of DKK 125 million in 2022, which is a growth of 45 percent compared to the previous year, the port writes in a press release.

The large growth in revenue led to a result of DKK 34.4 million. DKK, which is somewhat above the result last year and is described as "satisfactory" by the board "not least in light of the effects of recent years, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, on the company's finances."

"The great result is largely based on a joint team effort among the port's employees. It is also visible proof of the good cooperation with companies at the port, and with the business community on Bornholm as a whole. The island's business community has high expectations of us as a supply port. We must be professional, at the forefront of development, and, not least, forward-looking. We also experience respect and trust from the business community, which is why we are delighted that Rønne Havn A/S was awarded DI Bornholm's Initiative Award in 2022," says Lars Nordahl Lemvigh, who took office as the new managing director in the spring of 2022.

After the corona pandemic, the port was again able to note an increase in passenger traffic, just as the cruise ships also returned and set a record with 61 calls in Rønne and a further 14 calls on the east side of the island and Christiansø.

In 2023, 50 calls have so far been booked.

In 2022, the port also handled the shipment of foundations and components for the German project Arcadis Ost 1, where 27 Vestas wind turbines are to be set up on the German island of Rügen.

"Many local companies have benefited during the year from being able to bid as subcontractors for offshore services, a development that seems to be growing as the network "Offshore Center Bornholm" gets more local companies on board, says the port director.

At the end of 2022, the port completed the second stage of the port expansion, but further future-proofing of the port is needed:

That is why in 2022 we have started the preparatory works, which can partly create better sailing conditions, including for the community-based ferry service and thus ensure the security of supply for Bornholm, and partly can create significant economic activity in Bornholm society going forward," says Lars Nordahl Lemvigh.
