Air India recently decided to assign Fraport Cargo Services further on with the provision of cargo handling services at Frankfurt.

Already since 2002, when Air India re-launched its flight operation to Frankfurt, the Indian airline is handled by the 100% subsidiary of Fraport AG.

'Air India has set up strict requirements for the future handling supplier. Quality criteria, location factors and the price-performance-ratio were reviewed in detail during the tender process. FCS could offer the best package and hence succeeded in the bidding process.' says Wolfgang Scholinz, Cargo Manager of Air India for Germany.

Winfried Hartmann, Managing Director of FCS, is pleased about the contract extension. 'Air India is a customer with a high potential for growth. In the last years we could contribute to its positive development at Frankfurt and we are looking forward to continuing this cooperation together in future.'

During the winter schedule 2008/2009, Air India is flying daily with passenger aircrafts type B777-300 to Chicago and Mumbai. In addition, the airline operates three freighter frequencies per week with AB310F to Mumbai via Damman and onwards to Chennai and Bangalore.

Air India will keep its promise and will continue growing. Already with the summer schedule as from 29th March 2009, further frequencies will be added. In addition to the daily flights to Chicago and Mumbai, daily flights to New Delhi and New York (Newark) in the USA will follow.

After years of continuous growth, Air India belongs nowadays to the largest customers of FCS. Further capacity increase is planned for the coming years and will strengthen Frankfurt's position as European hub.
