With a successful first ever Connie Award event in Chicago in early April, Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) is seeking nominations for the prestigious annual Connie Awards in California and New Jersey.

Named for the container, the Connie Award has been presented every year since 1972, to those who have made outstanding contributions to the containerization and intermodal industry, including those involved with rail, ports, importers and exporters, third party logistics providers, technology, government officials and the media.

"The prestigious Connie Awards draw attendees from across the nation. We're seeking nominations nationwide for all facets involved in trade," said Allen Clifford, CII President.

This year's remaining events will take place on September 21, 2011, in Long Beach, CA, and December 5, 2011, in Newark, NJ. All nominations for Long Beach must be received by May 6, 2011, and for Newark by July 30, 2011.

To nominate a person or company, contact CII Executive Director, Barbara Yeninas, at [email protected] or call (800) 231-8244.

In addition to the awards, CII will present scholarships to deserving students studying logistics or transportation. CII is also offering special discounts on "The Box That Changed The World" books detailing the first 50 years of containerization. Any company that would like to become involved with the Connie events by sponsoring, funding a scholarship or purchasing books should contact [email protected] or (732) 817-9131.
