German mail and logistics group Deutsche Post will not raise prices for privately sent parcels despite rising costs for petrol and the German lorry toll.

A Deutsche Post spokeswoman would not comment on Friday on possible price changes for corporate customers. Deutsche Post last raised prices for private customers in January 2010.

German daily Die Welt reported that parcel delivery service GLS planned to charge customers 4 percent more from April 1, adding Hermes will decide on possible surcharges in February.

"When we take a look at the price of petrol or the lorry toll, the direction becomes clear," the newspaper quoted Hermes Europe chief executive Hanjo Schneider as saying. (Reuters)
