D'sseldorf International Airport, the 3rd biggest in Germany, joins the Run Air Network, the new independent Pan-European trucking network, specialising in road feeder services between airports. Run Air offers scheduled 'flights' brings cargo to and from a wide network of airports in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. The network is already operating successfully and will expand considerably over the next few months. DUS Cargo Logistics ' a 100% subsidiary of D'sseldorf International Airport ' signed a contract on June17th. making it the exclusive air cargo partner of the Run Air Network.

Detlef Warburg, Managing Director of Run Air states: 'I have known the D'sseldorf Airport Cargo team for several years and when we started up Run Air we needed a first class partner providing excellent air cargo services. Our aim is to be different from our competitors by offering excellent service with fair rates. DUS Cargo Logistics is the ideal partner for our network. This is due, on the one hand, to their experience and their high quality services, and on the other hand to the fact that the D'sseldorf plus the whole of the Rhine /Ruhr catchment area offers great potential for air freight. The development of the cargo facilities at D'sseldorf International Airport over the last couple of years is most impressive.'

The Airport is located at the heart of Germany's North-Western region, very close to the Benelux border. The Federal State, of which D'sseldorf is the capital, accounts for approximately 20% of all German exports. The catchment area generates significant quantities of airfreight. Gerton Hulsman, managing director of DUS Cargo Logistics explains:

'We are based right in the middle of Europe's most densely populated area, also one of the most productive areas for German exports. When we look at imports, we have a high density of distribution centers along the Dutch border, which have to be supplied with products coming mostly from the Far East. Also there are over 18 million people living in a radius of 100km around the airport, which is quite a substantial consumer market for international products. We are very proud and happy to be the exclusive partner for the Run Air Network in this part of Germany. The network enables us to offer airlines, choosing to fly into D'sseldorf, a wider range of services. This international airport provides a modern infrastructure with state-of-the-art cargo warehouse facilities manned by skillful and highly educated staff. But now we have the possibility to go a step further! An airline flying into D'sseldorf International Airport, can make use of the Run Air Network, thus offering their customers scheduled deliveries at many different German and European airports.
