Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic can look back on a successful fiscal year. In 2013, the transport and logistics provider increased its consignment volume by 25 percent, to over 1.2 million consignments. This corresponds to a revenue increase of seven percent. A large contributor to this success is the land transport business, which accounts for two thirds of the added value. The Air & Sea freight and logistics service areas each contributed 20 percent. With this positive business development, the Czech Republic has once again proved to be an important pillar in the eastward expansion strategy of Gebrüder Weiss. “The continuous development in the Czech Republic is very gratifying for us,” says Reinhold Grasser, Regional Director of Gebrüder Weiss North, on the consignment success. “We believe in the country's economic strength. This is why we want to continue to make targeted investments and continue on this successful course with our young, dynamic team on site.” Harald Prohaska, Country Manager of Gebrüder Weiss Czech Republic, adds: “In spite of a slight recession in the Czech Republic, with targeted market appearances and focus campaigns, we were able to win new customers and impress them with our service.” As the Czech economy should relax again in 2014 according to forecasts, Gebrüder Weiss is optimistic about the future and expects further growth. Continuous expansion The international transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has been represented in the Czech Republic since 1992, and has since then been continuously expanding its local network to all important hubs in the country. In April 2013, the new headquarters in Jeneč near Prague commenced operations. Gebrüder Weiss invested around 15 million euros in the new cargo handling and logistics facility, which offers a highly modern ADR depot as a special service. The company also has another six Czech locations. A new branch was opened only recently in the Bohemian town of Jablonec nad Nisou, offering the complete range of transport and logistics services, including the LTL/FTL service GW direct.line. With the planned site expansion in the Brno area, Gebrüder Weiss is also setting the right course in Moravia for further consolidation of its position in Central and Eastern Europe.
