Kerry Logistics, a leading global logistics service provider, has acquired 55,000 sqm of land at the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate ('ESIE') in Rayong Province, Thailand for the construction of a 35,000 sq.m logistics centre for the automotive sector.

Located 35 kms from the Laemchabang Seaport, the ESIE is focused on car manufacturing with a cluster of more than 500 automotive factories. Global brands such as General Motors, Ford, Mazda and Suzuki have already established assembly operations in the zone.

The new facility is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2013 and will offer flexible solutions to large and small customers both on-site and off-site. Other services include a covered storage area, inventory control, processing and packaging, as well as specialized services such as automotive pre-assembly, sub-assembly, sequencing, and JIT delivery.

Kerry Logistics will also provide quality control and inspection for vehicles on arrival, batch and sequence parts for delivery to customers' own facilities or send directly to end-users.

Through its global network, Kerry Logistics will be able to offer one-stop services including collection of components from manufacturers in their respective country of origin, consolidation, shipping and forwarding, customs clearance, container handling and receipt on arrival in Thailand.

The value of logistics services in the automotive zone in 2011 was valued at US$66 mn and is expected to increase by more than 25% by 2015.
