KIEV - Ukraine has exported 9.8 million tonnes of grain in the first three months of the July 2015-June 2016 season, the agriculture ministry said on Thursday. The total comprised 1.4 million tonnes of maize, 5.5 million tonnes of wheat and 2.9 million tonnes of barley, it said in a statement. The ministry gave no comparative figures. An additional 427,000 tonnes of grain has been loaded on vessels and should leave Ukraine in the coming days. Agriculture Minister Oleksiy Pavlenko has said Ukraine could harvest about 59.5 million tonnes of grain this year and may export about 36 million tonnes. Ukraine harvested a record 63.8 million tonnes of grain in 2014 and sold about 35 million tonnes abroad.
