UTC Overseas, specialists in turnkey global logistics solutions, has announced the formation of a new division to serve the unique logistics needs of food and beverage production and packaging manufacturers.
“This builds on our established leadership in service to the aluminum beverage can industry, led by Vice President Dean Temple and Vice President and Director of Project Development Martha Rojas,” explains UTC Overseas Executive Vice President Marco Poisler. “It also continues UTC’s measured expansion through the creation of market-specific divisions serving such sectors as Oil and Gas, Power Generation and Distribution, Cement Plants, Petrochemicals, Mining, and Industrial Plant Manufacturing and Renovation.”
“Our established skills in serving the challenging needs of the beverage can industry will be of equal value to food and beverage processing equipment manufacturers,” Temple adds. “In both instances, the machinery for new facilities is sourced from multiple companies worldwide, each specializing in one element of the production process. For beverage cans this includes everything from forming the initial ‘cup’, to washing, coatings, imprinting, filling and sealing. All units are connected by conveyors, and monitored and controlled by high-tech systems at speeds of up to 3,000 units per minute.”
“Whether it is cans or food and beverage processing equipment, our challenge is to deliver each specialized unit on time and in the proper installation sequence,” Rojas adds. “As one example of why this is so important, each manufacturer needs to be sure their technical team is on hand at the right time to oversee the installation of their equipment. Completing their work with minimal delay and downtime is vital to project cost management. Continual communication with our offices, our logistics providers, each manufacturer, the facility contractor and our end customer helps assure the timely sequenced deliveries and unit setups vital to cost-efficient, critical-path
