It may not be the biggest or the most populous continent in the world, but South America plays an amazingly big and important role in the World Economy. At the same time, Brazil holds the title as the country with the highest population. With this, and other 11 countries, South America goes stronger by each year. In today’s article we will deal with the theme related to export trends in South America. You will have a chance to learn which country has the leading role and what products are being exported the most.

What are export trends in South America?

In the following section we will be dealing with the goods and merchandise that are being the most exported from this continent. So, let us take a closer look.

Brazil

As we mentioned before, Brazil has a major role on this continent. A very important role in the success of Brazilian exportation lies in the fact Brazil shares boarders with every South American country excluding Ecuador and Chile. This gives it the opportunity to really take advantage of its potential to the maximum. However,Brazil is not only concentrated on export to neighbouring countries. Rather, they have a very good partnering relationship with their major partners such as US, EU, and Mexico. This has qualified Brazil to find its place on a big map of international trade. Among fellow South American countries, the best partnership has been formed with Argentina. Talking in numbers, 46% of total exports goes on raw material, whereas manufactured goods go up to 38%. Among other products that are part of export trends in South America, Brazil also exports:

  • Every soy related products with Beijing being their most important trade partner. Around 40% of the entire soybean production is exported to China’s capital.

  • The next on the list is transport equipment and their components

  • Oil and oil-based products are next followed by

  • Meat products

  • Metal and chemical products.

Argentina

Argentina has seen a significant growth in exporting trends in the past two decades. Some of the leading sectors in Argentinian industry arefood processing, production of tobacco and beverages. Argentina also producesparts for automobile industry, as well as textiles and leather. Moreover, it is a major producer ofsteel and aluminium. Iron, as well. These products have found their spot on an international trading map. With a large area of arable land, Argentina is a major exporter of agriculture products. The first on the list are cereals, oils, beef meat. It’s not insignificant to mention that dairy products also stand high on the list. Among the major countries we mentioned before, some of the very important ones for the Argentinian exportation are Netherlands, Italy and Venezuela.

Peru

Good news for Peru as their economy has benefited from their shipments of agricultural goods, as well as chemical products and products from textile industry. However, the major export products of Peru are gold and copper. China is again seen as their most important partner, followed by America and Switzerland. Peru also nourishes good export relationship with India and South Korea. Thanks to all this, Peru has climbed on the scale where export trends in South America have been tracked. It is currently on 4thposition below Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Chile

Similar thing has happened in Chile. Their exports have grown around 14.9% this year in May. Their economy is mostly concentrated on exporting copper which is up to 50 percent of the overall sales trend. It is important to mention that a huge role goes to manufactured products. If we compare the numbers, we could see that Chile’s exportation of manufactured products is very much alike the one in Brazil. Of course, inherent to their own circumstances.

With theBío Bío region as the heart of forest industry in this South American’s country spread all along its western edge, this industry is going strong by each year. It also takes a high position in Chilean export trends influencing the overall export trends in South America. Just like with the previously mentioned countries China is the central international partner, as well as United States. The less central, but still very important role play South Korea and Brazil, which is probably surprising given the fact that these two countries are geographically the closest.

Colombia

This is a favourable time if anyone is considering investing in Colombia. This country’s exports rates have grown 38.5 percent year-on-year to USD 3.72 billion this year in April. This is mainly thanks to their shipments of fuels and mining products which is up to 46.3% compared to 13.1% in March. Moreover, Colombia boosts good export of coal, oil, chemical, machinery and even cut flowers. The ultimate export partnership is being established with United States where 36 percent of overall exports is being shipped in this country. Significantly less strong partnership is formed with China and Spain. However, they all contribute to the growth of Colombia’s economy.

After seeing these export trends in South America, it is no wonder why so many people are rushing to invest in business in these countries. Also, it’s no wonder why we see an amazing increasement in those who wish to move to this continent with Brazil leading and with international moving companies in Brazil having more work than ever before. One thing is for sure. Whether for business or pleasure, one can find their spot in this marvellous part of the Earth.
