ALEXANDRIA, VA – Able Moving & Storage, headquartered in metropolitan Washington, D.C., has been named the nation’s top independent moving company for 2017 by the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA). The company earned this honor for strong business growth, high customer satisfaction, and a commitment to community service.

The award, also known as “the Indy,” reflects the association’s and the industry’s commitment to outstanding performance among independent movers as demonstrated through innovative business methods and practices, community involvement, customer service practices, employee relations, and operations that address a current and compelling social or economic issue. The recipient is selected by a panel of industry experts.

“We are honored to win the Independent Mover of the Year Award this year. Everything we do is a team effort and this win honors our dedicated team,” said Joe Singleton, president of Able Moving & Storage.

Able Moving & Storage was founded in 1987 by Bill, Jim and Joe Singleton. Like many successful moving companies, Able started with one truck out of the basement of a house. During the past 30 years Able has grown steadily, and today serves as a premier service provider for household and commercial clients. Able employs over 200 people, has a fleet of 75 trucks and operates out of more than 200,000 square feet of warehouse. Future expansion is planned across all lines of business.

Last year, Able collected over 100,000 pounds of donated goods and delivered them to those in need in Houston following Hurricane Harvey. The company also provided support for the Wounded Warrior Foundation, the Warmth for Winter Clothing Drive, and other local charities.

“Able Moving & Storage has set and exceeded high standards for the industry with a track record of success. They are an outstanding honoree for this highly-esteemed award,” said Scott Michael, AMSA president and CEO. “The moving and storage industry salutes Able Moving & Storage for its innovation and leadership. They also have led the way in social responsibility by supporting many worthy causes.”
