Risto Kariranta, CEO of Ahti Pool

Ahti announced a new R&D loan from Business Finland, the Finnish government organization for innovation funding.

The loan continues Business Finland's earlier development and acceleration funding for Ahti, reflecting sustained confidence in its direction and its ability to turn public R&D investment into commercial growth.

The new funding enables Ahti to develop holistic decarbonization services that help shipowners and charterers tackle decarbonization regulations and optimize their costs. By broadening beyond compliance balance and pooling, Ahti will provide their partners with a single way to manage the regulatory and financial sides of shipping's green transition.

Business Finland's decision highlighted the Ahti's significant international market potential, Ahti's competitive advantages as a leading pool operator, and its role in helping shipping respond to the challenges of climate change mitigation.

Risto-Juhani Kariranta, CEO and founder of Ahti, said, “Our first compliance pooling year taught us how the decarbonization market really works, and that success has only made us hungrier. Owners and charterers face a complex, fragmented carbon regulation landscape, and we intend to solve it. With Business Finland's backing, we will launch services that deliver concrete optimization across regional and even port-specific decarbonization regulations and initiatives.”
