Scott Michael, president and CEO of the American Moving & Storage Association, comments on the Thursday, July 14, Senate vote confirming Scott Darling as administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA): “The American Moving & Storage Association congratulates Scott Darling on achieving Senate confirmation. As acting administrator at the FMCSA for the past 11 months, he has proven himself to be an effective leader for improving motor carrier safety for commercial fleets on our nation’s highways, and we are confident that Scott will continue this momentum. We look forward to continuing our work with Scott on regulatory issues before the FMCSA, as well as on our legislative proposals, which include fighting back against “rogue operators” and protecting consumers through enhanced education and paperwork simplification; strengthening entry requirements for new interstate household goods carriers; stepping up enforcement of federal consumer protection regulations; and improving the Compliance, Safety, Accountability program as directed in the FAST Act. The American Moving & Storage Association is pleased that this vital federal agency devoted to motor carrier safety can now move forward with official leadership in place, and continue our partnership to improve highway safety and consumer protections.”
