Based on the services of UPS, and like the original express air services within click2ship, the new road services are quoted and booked online at www.airmenzies.com/uk/click2ship. Customers can also track their shipments and obtain PODs on-line. Rates are inclusive of Customs clearance and delivery transportation (excluding any duties and taxes). Agent customers have the option of a collection service from either their own or their shipper customer's premises.
The new trade-only click2ship European road service currently caters for single piece shipments from 10-70 kilos; however, multiple-piece shipments will also be carried soon. Transit times, which are all published on-line, range from 3-5 days
Says AMI Express General Manager Patrick Walsh: 'click2ship's new European road service offers an economy- priced service with all the convenience and sophistication of our air-based services, and slightly longer transit times. We chose UPS as we felt they offered the very best overall service.'
AMI expects take-up both from its existing agent customers, and companies who do not currently use its services. Continues Walsh: 'We launched this new service option in response to demand from our customers; however, we feel it will also appeal to a very wide market, much of which is outside our traditional customer base.
'For freight agents who are already using van services for intra-European freight, this service enables them to provide their customers with faster all-inclusive quotations, and offers the ultimate in reliability and end-to-end control.'
Later in 2012, AMI will raise the maximum shipment weights for click2ship; ultimately, it also plans to offer a full pallet service.
