For years, reefer transport and logistics have been one of the vital activities for Blue Water Shipping. The acquisition of Freightway International will strengthen Blue Water's focus on the Canadian and the North Atlantic markets.
"It is an essential strategic step for us to get Blue Water facilities and office in Canada. It will allow us to expand our current range of services to the Canadian markets – and with the acquisition of Freightway International, we get a strong foothold in an important segment for us. We are pleased to welcome the entire Freightway team to be part of Blue Water," states Frank Madsen, Global Director Reefer Sea, Blue Water Shipping.
Further expansion in Canada
"We are happy to hand over the ownership to Blue Water Shipping, which is known for their strong customer focus and tailor-made solutions. It is a good match, and the two companies share the same values and ambitions. Blue Water will also secure the further development of the business we have built up over the last decades. Everyone at Freightway is looking forward to growing the business as part of Blue Water," states David Andrews.
He continues in a central position and will work closely with General Manager Rasmus Fogh Jakobsen, who brings knowledge and experience with reefer transport in the North Atlantic markets from 8 years of employment at Blue Water.
With the location in Newfoundland, Blue Water has solid coverage of the North Atlantic Region with offices in Greenland, Iceland and Canada – and on a global scale, the company has more than 60 offices. The ambition for Blue Water is to expand further in Canada.
"We see good potential in expanding further west in Canada with locations in areas like Halifax, Toronto or Montreal, as it will allow us to service both current and coming customers even better. We want to be close to our customers – to provide the right solution to their needs", states Rasmus Fogh Jakobsen.
