The New Maritime Wave conference, taking place virtually on November 10th, will feature trends in global green shipping corridors, battery powered tugboats, electric harbor trucks, container terminal electrification and AI related cyber security threats to maritime operations.
The event is being produced by the Propeller Club of Northern California (PCNC) which represents the California ports of Oakland, Stockton, Redwood City, Richmond and San Francisco.
- Eugene Seroka, Executive Director, Port of Los Angeles, will discuss the Port’s leadership role developing ‘Green Shipping Corridors’ with other ports around the world.
- Kristi McKenney, Executive Director, Port of Oakland, will provide an update on green cargo-handling initiatives at the Port of Oakland.
- Michael Martin, Executive Director, Port of San Francisco will provide an update on green upgrades at the Port’s cruise ship terminal and its floating fire station.
- Heather Tomley, Managing Director of Planning and Environmental Affairs, Port of Long Beach will discuss zero emission initiatives and progress on the Port’s proposed offshore wind assembly facility, Pier Wind.
- Ryan Lansden, Head of Sustainability, APM Terminals, Los Angeles will discuss “Electrification of Terminal Operations.”
Chris Lambert, Director of Operations, TraPac, Oakland will provide an update on new Liebherr ship to shore cranes being deployed at the container terminal. - Martin Curtin, Chief Executive Officer, Curtin Maritime will describe the new fleet of battery powered tugboats the company will be deploying at California ports.
Matt Schrap, Chief Commercial Officer, Forum Mobility, will discuss “Battery Powered Tesla Semis & Truck Charging Stations.” - Jim Gillis, Pacific Region President, IMC Logistics will detail the harbor trucking company’s plans to deploy 50 battery powered Tesla Semi trucks.
- Tony Zhong, Chief Information Security Officer, Port of Los Angeles will report on the latest “Port Cyber Security Threats” including through AI.
- Alex Butler, US West Coast Representative, American Maritime Officers will discuss “Recruiting the Next Maritime Generation” including his work with cadets at Cal Poly Maritime Academy.
- Clay Sandidge, Senior Director Business Development & Sales, Capstone Energy will report on the company’s deployment of turbines.
The conference will also hear from three foreign specialists.
- Israel: Yarden Gross, Co-founder and CEO at Orca AI will discuss the company’s Automated Ship Vision & Navigation Technology.
- Netherlands: Koen Van Eig, Advisor, Zes Battery Systems will discuss “Battery Powered Inland Waterway Vessels.”
- Norway: Dr. Sinem Ogis, Vice President, Marsh (Energy) & Chair, Propeller Club of Oslo, will provide the latest developments on the “United Nations’s IMO Net Zero Emission Rules for Shipping.”
