AJOT | February 10, 2021 | Energy

In late June 2020, weekly distillate inventories in the Northeast United States reached 52.3 million barrels, the largest inventory since late November 2016. Qatar’s attempt to reclaim the LNG throne will make Middle East 2021’s global sanctioning epicenter

AJOT | February 10, 2021 | Energy

Qatar’s move to sanction the $30 billion North Field Expansion project puts the country on track to return as the world’s largest LNG producer by 2030, a Rystad Energy report shows, based on operational and so far sanctioned projects. Qatar’s liquefaction capacity will rise to 110 million tonnes per annum (tpa), or 18% of the global total, which is for now estimated at 600 million tpa at the end of the decade. Still, more projects are expected to be sanctioned as LNG demand will grow faster than supply.

Heating and petrochemical demand in Asia contribute to more U.S. propane exports

AJOT | February 09, 2021 | Energy

U.S. exports of propane have been increasing in recent months, primarily to countries in East Asia, as a result of cold weather and robust petrochemical feedstock consumption that drive demand in that region. Between April 2020 and November 2020 (the most recent monthly data in the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Petroleum Supply Monthly), approximately 58% of all U.S. propane exports went to markets in Asia. Nearly half of all U.S. propane exports in those months were shipped to three countries: Japan, China, and South Korea.
