Today, the Panama Canal presented the MSC Virgo, a containership with a Total TEU Allowance (TTA) of 15,746, with a Green Connection Award during its maiden voyage through the waterway, in recognition of its high environmental standards. In addition, the vessel was applauded for choosing the most emissions-efficient route when traveling from Europe to the West Coast of South America. The decision to navigate via the Panama Canal allowed the MSC Virgo to save more than 4,500 tons of CO2.

APM Terminals Mobile is targeting Asia to U.S. Midwest import cargo with daily departures using five class 1 railroads that offer further potential to access the U.S. heartland. CN has rail car and locomotive capacity to help speed cargo to Chicago with a 2.5 day direct doublestack service. Northbound refrigerated packs are available for cold chain cargoes as well. Five Asia/US liner services currently call the port to enhance the Midwest supply chain flow.

JAXPORT achieves strong cargo volumes through first three quarters of fiscal year 2021

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) recorded strong container and vehicle volumes during the first three quarters of Fiscal Year 2021. During this time, JAXPORT moved more than one million containers, a 15 percent increase over the same period last year. JAXPORT’s fiscal year runs Oct. 1 – Sept. 30.

Docked at the Viau Terminal before heading back to Europe, the 6,730 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) container ship measuring 303.89 metres long and 40 metres wide is the largest container ship to sail the St. Lawrence River.

The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) discharged 300 steel coils on June 10, 2021 to barge at Coastal Cargo breakbulk and heavy-lift terminal at the Louisiana Ave. Complex that were transported to barge from the SK Shipping Star Challenger and made their way upriver to be off-loaded at the Port of Caddo-Bossier in Shreveport.
