Frankfurt Airport welcomed China Cargo Airlines to Germany’s largest aviation hub with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. The airline, a subsidiary of China Eastern, is the latest cargo airline to start operations at the airport, where it will now be linking Shanghai-Pudong and Frankfurt twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. China Cargo Airlines expects to increase the frequency of its flights to Frankfurt after obtaining additional traffic rights.
According to Anke Giesen, Fraport AG’s Executive Director Operations (COO): “We’re pleased to be able to welcome China Cargo Airlines here in Frankfurt. This not only strengthens FRA as a cargo hub, but also further improves our position in the Chinese market.”
China Cargo Airlines, China’s first airline devoted solely to cargo, was established in 1998 as a joint venture between China Eastern Airlines and China Ocean Shipping and currently serves 19 destinations in 13 countries with a fleet of three Boeing 747-400-F and six Boeing 777-F aircraft.
