As was seen in previous hurricanes, demand and rates dropped as the hurricane made landfall. Soon, however, rebuilding efforts will begin, which will bring increased demand and likely higher rates. The national average rate for dry van and flatbed shipments dropped 4¢ per mile and the national reefer rate fell 3¢. The load-to-truck ratio moved lower for all three equipment types last week.

The weekly rate snapshots below reflect national averages for the month to date, including fuel surcharges. The rates are derived from DAT RateView, trucking's most accurate pricing index.
