This month Lars Jensen, CEO at Vespucci Maritime, looks at the impact of Chinese New Year and rerouting around the Cape of Good Hope on spot rates. In addition, Kieran Walsh, Commodity Broker at Freight Investor Services, notes how the ongoing issues in the Red Sea is impacting freight rates, with levels much higher than in December 2023.
Meanwhile, Judah Levine, Research Lead at Freightos, looks at how rates may have passed their peak following Chinese New Year and are now likely to ease further as ocean freight enters its slow season.
