Lyttelton Port Company has introduced an Infrastructure Levy on all containers moving across the port, for both import and export movements.

In order to provide competitive service, we will recover a Port Improvement Charge (Origin/ Destination) of NZD 40 per TEU as follows:

Export cargo from Lyttelton to non-FMC trade lanes:

- PIO effective from vessels departing Lyttelton on or after January 1, 2021

Import cargo to Lyttelton from non-FMC trade lanes:

- PID effective from vessels departing origin on or after January 1, 2021

Export cargo from Lyttelton to FMC trade lanes:

- PIO effective from vessels departing Lyttelton on or after January 7, 2021

Import cargo to Lyttelton from FMC trade lanes:

- PID effective from vessels departing origin on or after January 7, 2021

This charge will be invoiced as part of the New Zealand local charges and will be payable by the exporter / shipper for export cargo, and the consignee for import cargo.
