The Logistics Initiative Hamburg (LIHH) and Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM) used the general assembly of the Scandria Alliance on 2 November 2021 in Berlin to join. The joint vision of the alliance is to realise a sustainable and multimodal transport system from Scandinavia to the Adriatic by 2030.
LIHH and HHM want to be actively involved. Both associations will contribute their (maritime) logistics and supply chain experience as well as their member networks. The aim is to build and strengthen sustainable transport corridors and to complement the views of the Scandria Alliance with experience in freight logistics.
Axel Mattern, CEO of HHM, also sees clear added value in membership. "The port of Hamburg is a European logistics hot spot. We depend on functional, efficient, and future-proof green supply chains. This is where cooperation and strong networks are needed and extended to jointly overcome the challenges such as alternative fuel deployment. The Scandria Alliance is an excellent instrument for this, which we are happy to strengthen” says Mattern. “We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation”, he continues.
The Scandinavian and Central European regions are characterised by a long history of exchanges in trade and commerce, the development of transport infrastructure and services, and regional development. For more than ten years, the Scandria®Corridor regions have been working together. In March 2019, leading politicians of the six founding member regions (Örebro County Region, Skåne Region, Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council, Eastern Norway County Network, City of Turku, Berlin-Brandenburg Capital Region) concluded the "Interregional Agreement Establishing the Scandria Alliance for Territorial Cooperation along the Scandria®Corridor".
