As a follow up to the advisory on the MAERSK SHANGHAI, which experienced severe weather outside of Charleston, South Carolina, below is what we know about the situation at this time:
- Vessel began transit to Freeport, Bahamas late yesterday afternoon. Based on current transit time vessel is expected to arrive to Freeport tomorrow March 8th.
- The vessel owners have secured a supplier to conduct salvage operations once the vessel arrives. Damaged units on board will need to be attended to first in order to protect the safety of the crew, cargo and vessel.
Maersk Line is working closely with all parties involved to determine best course of action for all cargo.
