The Work Truck Association has released Commercial Vehicle Market Update, a new quarterly report providing data-driven analysis of the commercial vehicle market and the economic and industry trends shaping its direction.

Designed to help industry professionals better understand current market conditions and plan for what’s ahead, the report examines commercial vehicle sales, shipments and inventory; trends by vehicle class, cab and body type; key economic indicators; powertrain and advanced technology developments; and the market outlook.

Each quarterly edition goes beyond reporting the latest numbers to provide context around what the data means for the work truck industry. The report identifies developing trends, highlights areas of opportunity and uncertainty, and outlines key factors to watch in the months ahead.

“Commercial vehicle market conditions are influenced by a wide range of interconnected factors, and understanding how those pieces fit together is critical for effective business planning,” said Andrew Wrobel, NTEA commercial vehicle insight strategist. “Commercial Vehicle Market Update brings those signals together in one resource, giving industry professionals timely context they can use to better understand where the market stands and where it may be headed.”

The inaugural report examines second-quarter 2026 data with analysis of:

  • Commercial vehicle sales, shipments and inventory trends
  • Market activity by weight class and cab type
  • Body type and vocational application trends
  • Macroeconomic indicators affecting commercial vehicle demand
  • Fuel, material and financing cost considerations
  • Zero-emission vehicle and advanced technology adoption
  • Industry forecasts and key indicators to watch in the coming quarter

Commercial Vehicle Market Update will be published quarterly and is available at no cost to NTEA members and for $699 to nonmembers.
