PASADENA, CA - Parsons is pleased to announce that three of its engineers will present case studies on a selection of Parsons’ bridge designs and alternative project delivery (APD) solutions at the World Steel Bridge Symposium in Orlando, FL, April 13–15. “Parsons’ reputation for state-of-the-art bridge design and construction methods is recognized across the globe,” said Michael Johnson, Parsons Group President. “In fact, Parsons has been a leader in APD methods for more than 30 years. We’re honored to share our experience and expertise at the World Steel Bridge Symposium.” In the symposium’s Accelerated Bridge Construction session at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, Parsons’ Vincent Gastoni will present on the accelerated design and construction manager/general contractor (CM/GC) project delivery process for the U.S. Highway 53 bridge that crosses the decommissioned Rouchleau mining pit in Minnesota. As the bridge designer, Parsons completed the preliminary design within 30 days and the detailed design within 90 days. Two Parsons engineers will deliver presentations focused on redundancy in bridge design in the symposium’s Fracture-Critical Determination session at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, April 15. Seth Condell will give an overview of Parsons’ design of the Goethals Bridge in New York, which provides a unique level of redundancy and improved overall structural resiliency. Gregory Hasbrouck will discuss Parsons’ design of the St. Anthony Parkway steel truss bridge in Minnesota, which features complete load-path redundancy, eliminating all fracture-critical members and the need for fracture-critical inspection. The World Steel Bridge Symposium, organized by the American Institute of Steel Construction, brings together bridge design engineers, construction professionals, academicians, transportation officials, fabricators, erectors, and constructors to discuss and learn state-of-the-art practices for enhancing steel bridge design, fabrication, and construction techniques.
