Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves met with German State Secretary for Economic, Finance and European Affairs Jörg Kukies from the German Chancellery. During the meeting, Deputy Secretary Graves commended Germany for its unprecedented support for Ukraine and emphasized the Department of Commerce’s strong interest in working with Germany as it continues to diversify its energy sources and reduce dependence on Russian fossil fuels. They also discussed the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) and the Department’s desire to collaborate with Germany on TTC work streams focusing on semiconductors and artificial intelligence. Deputy Secretary Graves also expressed the Department’s support for continued bilateral engagement between the Department’s International Trade Administration and Germany’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action on a variety of topics, including clean technology, apprenticeships, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, secure supply chains, and China, through the U.S.-Germany Informal Commercial Exchange Talks.
