New AI-powered assistant helps maritime professionals find answers to contract queries, surface risk and make more confident fixing decisions — built directly into Sea's Contract Management.
Sea, the intelligent marketplace for fixing freight, today announced the launch of Cora, its new AI-powered assistant built into Contract Management, the industry standard for charter party and recap management.

Cora has been created to close that gap: chartering, legal and operating teams can now ask a question in natural language -"Which contracts are missing a sanctions clause?", "What was our last agreed position with this counterparty?" - and get an answer grounded in their own contract portfolio, in seconds, catching what would otherwise take significant time and manual review to find.
Unlike general-purpose AI tools, Cora is trained specifically on maritime language, charter party structures and clause logic - understanding niche shipping concepts in a way general models can't. It also sits within Sea's own security environment, a protection general-purpose chatbots don't necessarily offer, always keeping sensitive contract data safe within a customer's own ring-fenced space at all times.
With Cora, users can:
- Find any answer in seconds - laytime, demurrage, trading limits and more — without digging through folders or chasing colleagues for the latest version
- Catch what's missing before it becomes exposure - spot inconsistent or absent clauses across an entire portfolio, not just the contract in front of them
- Negotiate from a position of strength - see instantly how terms have been agreed with a counterparty before, and benchmark new positions against a company's own fixture history
- Make fixing decisions with the full picture, not a partial one pieced together under time pressure -commercial terms, clause history and risk, together in one place
- Stay consistent with approved positions, comparing new wording against a company's own standard clauses or BIMCO's industry-standard library
- Cora is designed to support decision-making, not replace it. Contractual and legal assessments, and the final commercial call on any fixture, remain firmly with the team making it.
- Peter Schroder, CEO, Sea, said:
- “For years, the maritime industry has not been able to fully utilise the valuable information trapped inside its own paperwork. Cora is part of a broader shift we're driving at Sea: turning our customers' historic contracts into valuable data, made accessible through Cora at the exact point of negotiation in Sea Contracts and Recap Manager. It unlocks the value hidden in charter parties, and it is now available at your fingertips in seconds.”
- Contract data has long been treated as a record of what's already happened. Cora reflects a different premise: that the same data, made properly accessible, can actively shape what happens next - a faster fixture, a stronger negotiating position, a risk caught in time. As that shift continues across the industry, Sea expects intelligence, not just storage, to become the new standard for how shipping manages its contracts.
