A time-critical shipment at Teesside Airport coordinated by CharterSync.

A last-minute shipment of time-critical cargo has been successfully handled by Teesside International Airport.

The airport’s in-house handling team received a late-notice request for a Pilatus PC-12 to be unloaded quickly so cargo could be moved on to its destination.

And the airport showed its 24/7 flexibility to successfully host the shipment – winning praise from air cargo charter firm CharterSync.

Teesside Airport’s cargo operation has shown significant growth in the past two years.

Figures to August show cargo handled by the airport so far this year is up 120% on 2025 levels.

The airport sits at the heart of the UK’s logistics network, with around 60% of the country’s distribution and manufacturing hubs reachable within four hours and 94.8% of the UK population within six hours.

The airport also benefits from strong road links via the A1(M), A19 and A66, rail freight connectivity, and proximity to major ports.

Teesside is home to a Border Control Post for inbound inspections of perishable goods – and the airport is currently developing a new cargo facility near its main terminal building.

The airport also offers businesses a streamlined in-house cargo process with 24/7 operations and rapid handling times.

Goods can be cleared, collected and deconsolidated efficiently, while parcel-level scanning can be provided through the GHA.

The airport also offers competitive, bespoke airport and handling costs compared with other UK airports, supported by a commercial incentive program based on business volumes.
