OMAHA, Neb. - Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ:WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, is pleased to announce its 25,000th veteran hire since partnering with the Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs to begin the industry’s first professional truck driver apprenticeship program in 2006. Arthur Fellows, from Orange, Massachusetts, became Werner’s 25,000th veteran hire on Jan. 4, after graduating from United Tractor Trailer School. Fellows is currently in Werner’s student driver training program and plans to become a team driver.  “I wanted to work for Werner Enterprises because the recruiter, Immanuel [Odongkara], came to my school and gave a great presentation,” said Fellows. “I had a lot of brochures from different companies but Werner was the best choice. I also spoke with the recruiter after his presentation and that helped me make my final decision.” Fellows worked as an aviation metalsmith on Marine One while serving four years in the United States Marine Corps. As a military friendly employer, Werner has pledged to hire 2,000 veterans and 250 veteran spouses in 2017.
