An Arkansas-based company that provides temperature-controlled warehouse and transportation services to a variety of industries plans to construct a new cold storage and distribution center in Joplin, a capital investment of $14 million that is expected to create 52 new local jobs.

Gov. Jay Nixon helped break ground for the new 150,000 square-foot facility for Don's Cold Storage, a company headquartered in Rogers, Ark. The Governor was joined at the ceremony at the Joplin/Webb City Industrial Park by company officials, as well as community leaders.

'Through consistent fiscal discipline, holding the line on taxes and supporting local communities like Joplin, we've created a climate where businesses are investing in Missouri and creating jobs,' Gov. Nixon said. 'As a result, companies like this are choosing Missouri as the place to create new jobs, grow their business and move our economy forward.'

Don's Cold Storage provides temperature-controlled warehouse and transportation services, including blast freezing and cold and dry storage, to multiple industries in the continental United States as well as product export services across the globe. The company chose to build its first facility outside its home state of Arkansas in the new 150,000 square-foot cold storage and distribution center in the Joplin area.

To assist Don's Cold Storage in moving forward with its growth plans, the company could be eligible for a strategic economic incentive package from the state of Missouri if it meets the strict job creation and investment criteria of each program.
