For the April-June period, the company earned $14.4 million, or 39 cents a share, compared with $9.6 million, or 26 cents a share, a year ago.
Sales for the company, which competes with Pacer International and C.H. Robinson Worldwide , rose 66 percent to $759.7 million.
Revenue at the intermodal segment, which involves the transportation of freight using multiple modes of transportation, grew 24 percent.
